Resource Folders

A creenshot of the FIB-DM Resource Master SharePoint's Releases library.

The Financial Industry Business Data Model (FIB-DM) Resources Master SharePoint has a document library called Releases.

FIB-DM follows the Financial Industry Business Ontology (FIBO) quarterly release schedule.

After the Enterprise Data Management Association (EDMS) publishes a new version, Jayzed Data Models transforms the ontology into the data model and updates education materials.

Commercial full-model customers have read and download access to the folders they have licensed.

Licenses with active maintenance can see several folders. Standard licensees without maintenance can access their version.

Note: This history of previous versions is not an Intellectual Property License Agreement (IPLA) entitlement. Always use the latest version of the FIBO Data Model, and archive your downloads on the intranet.

Release folders

A folder in the Releases library contains 6 subfolders: Articles, Data Model, Diagrams, Presentations, Release (reports), and Tools.

These are the same six folders that licensees with maintenance received as encrypted ZIP directories in the old distribution process.

Public vs. licensed resources

Jayzed Data Models takes pride in the transparency of its offering.

  • Data Architects can try out the open-source FIB-DM Core version of the model.
  • Business and IT can review the list of all 3,173 entities and their definitions.
  • FIB-DM training course is on YouTube.
  • Education materials and diagrams are available on the FIB-DM website.

No pig in a poke.

Data Model license

The Open-Source license is copyleft under GPL3.0, meaning your derived works such as model additions and modifications, migrations to other tools and software, generated physical models, and metadata extracts (reports) are also open-source.

Your Full Commercial license is the Jayzed Intellectual Property License Agreement (IPLA). The IPLA supersedes the GPL 3.0 copyleft requirement. In other words, you keep your FIB-DM Enterprise and other models secret. You own the title to the derived works you create, but must not share FIB-DM content with third parties.

Education materials

All public educational materials are subject to Jayzed copyright and the Terms of Use (TOU) as indicated on FIB-DM website pages, PDFs, SVGs, and MS Office files. FIB-DM website visitors are welcome to share the original content, but please do not modify any articles, videos, or copy images.

With a customer license, you can modify, translate, edit, and even lift images and diagrams from SharePoint Resources as long as they remain within your organization.
